Why is the sky darkened after a nuclear explosion?

I was watching a video of Ivy Mike's 10MT explosion. The bomb was detonated at 7am, the sky was very bright and clear. But right at the moment of the explosion, the sky went dark as if it was detonated at night! Why is this so?
