Ford F350 Diesel 6.0 oil level?

i recently(3weeks ago) did an oil change on F350 Deisel 6.0 powerstroke and the dealership told me that it takes 16 qrts of oil. I put 16 qrts in it and found out that it only took 15 qrts and it even shows on the dip stick that it is over the max. My question is will it being over filled cause me to burn oil. 2 days ago it started to have a puff of bluish smoke only on take off. If i an moving and give it gas it will not smoke. I am draining some out of it to get the level right, but not sure if this can cause it to smoke.
