Couldn't a nuclear bomb be driven into Washington DC?

There are detectors placed all along the interstate system. Aside from that, it would be very easy. The problem is finding a nuclear weapon and getting it to Washington. You certainly can't fly in any commercial airline, or ship it overseas, so it'd have to be a U.S. nuke, and they're virtually impossible to get.
